Eligibility
To be eligible for UTME conversion or upgrade to DE, candidates must have:
- obtained the 2023 UTME form and completed registration;
- a minimum of two A-level passes or their equivalent, which must be relevant to the intended course of study.
Requirements for UTME-DE Conversion:
Candidates who meet the eligibility requirements and wish to convert their UTME to DE will require the following documents:
- UTME Registration Slip;
- O-level results;
- A-level, OND, NCE, or other equivalent results;
- JAMB Profile Code;
- Registered Phone Number.

How to Convert UTME to DE (Direct Entry)
Interested candidates need to follow the application process diligently to ensure a smooth and successful conversion of UTME to Direct Entry.
- Visit any JAMB office and request for UTME to DE conversion.
- Provide your Profile Code or UTME Registration Number.
- An OTP will be sent to your registered Phone Number to confirm your conversation. This might take a little while depending on the network.
- Fill in the UTME to DE Conversion form and upload the required documents listed above;
- Request for a printout.
- Wait for the conversion to reflect on your portal.
NOTE: While filling out the conversion form, you’ll have to choose two universities and courses (First and Second Choice).

Yes. Whether you passed or failed the UTME examination, you can still upgrade to Direct Entry.
Can I convert my UTME to DE if I did not write the UTME examination?
No. Candidates who missed or failed to write the JAMB examination are no longer eligible for UTME to DE conversion. The UTME-DE conversion process is only available for candidates who have taken the UTME, regardless of how low their score is.
Is there any cut-off mark for UTME to DE upgrade with ND/HND results?
Yes. The minimum grade is a lower credit (ND/HND).
Can I still upgrade my UTME to D.E. after I have gotten admission through UTME?
Yes. However, you will have to forfeit the UTME admission as it will be invalidated as soon as the conversion process is completed.
Can I use Awaiting Result when converting UTME to Direct Entry?
Yes. You can use an awaiting result during the conversion process. However, you are required to upload the result as soon as you have it, otherwise you won’t be eligible for admission.
How do I convert my UTME pin to DE pin?
If you mistakenly vend a UTME pin instead of a DE pin, ensure to complete your registration and write the examination. You can successfully convert your UTME to DE after the UTME examination has been completed (regardless of how low your score is).
What documents are required for UTME-DE conversion?
Candidates should have their UTME registration slip, O’level results, A-level results or their equivalent, and registered phone number.
